EFT Energy Helps Theo Benning Increase
“We selected three companies to make proposals for an energy monitoring system. When we evaluated each system it was clear that’s EFT’s software provided reports to our exact requirements, was impressive and extremely easy to navigate. This combined with the fact that the other systems were almost twice the cost of EFT Energy Manager made the decision to select EFT easy.” Theo Benning currently monitors most of the key electrical loads onsite to including: The Main ESB Incomer, Light Boards 1 & 2, The Main Compressor and 3 Solder Ovens. In addition to this, a number of virtual meters have been created on the system, the main one being the unmetered load. “By monitoring these loads I have already managed to substantially reduce our electrical consumption. Energy Manager has helped me in so many ways but let me give you a few examples." Bill Verification: The system allows me to create account centres and to verify the main bill. A report is automatically sent to the Financial Director at the end of each month to ensure we are not being over charged by our supplier. Lighting: I made a change to our lighting by changing from T8 to T5 bulbs. The system identified a 30% saving and with this data, I was in a position to roll out the changes across the site. Solder Ovens: I now monitor three Solder Ovens and can run KPI’s for each of them. Iin our case it relates to circuit boards produced in relation to KWh’s consumed. Policing: Staff here are good in terms of turning off equipment; however, there is always room for improvement. For example, when I logged into the system on Monday morning I could see the Compressor was left running over the weekend. Needless to say, armed with the data I don’t think that will be allowed happen again.” In September 2010 EFT Energy Installed EFT Energy Manager at Theo Benning utilising a TCPIP Datalogger wired to receive 10 metering points. EFT also supplied the electrical sub meters and CT’s. The installation of the meters was carried out by Theo Benning; this was followed by commissioning of the system by an EFT Engineer. Theo Benning, an electrical equipment manufacturer, had a requirement for a web based energy monitoring system which could provide energy consumption data in real time. This project was to be carried out as part of the company's ISO 14000 programme.
